one of my best friends (and current housemate) is a christian and she has no problem with my lifestyle or views whatsoever . . .

One of my best friends is a fundamentalist Christian, and she and I get into some real doozies of arguments about things. I almost fell off my chair one day when she told me in all sincerity that she believes the world is only a little more than 4,000 years old and that she does not "believe in" evolution.

Although the things she has learned about the natural world at church are clearly bonkers, there is no denying she is a "real" Christian. Not only is the story of her conversion experience truly awesome, but she lives a life of love and service. She sincerely endeavors to be a missionary by example, never preaching, just being. I respect her calling completely -- and I still just about barf when I go to church with her.

But she likes that church. That's where she reconnects with that original encounter with Jesus that made her a Christian. It repulses me, but it truly feeds her soul. (mysterious ways . . . )

Anyway, I think it's funny that some people assume that I am anti-Christian. I'm not. But I AM anti-Kristian (people who call themselves Christian, but you wouldn't know it any other way.)
