Daniel, cross point switching and cross-connects have always had the effect of a clanking sound, metal on metal, in my mind. Physical layer confrontation and then marriage. Maybe it's my upbringing, having been through a few gray dinosaur cages in my time. Routing, on the other hand, has always reminded me of an organic flow, probably because it has been defined historically in software. No longer, though. We'll sort this out some other time, or maybe someone else will come in to bail us out on this one, and shine some new light on the subject. Later, Frank C.
