wallace, you know not of what you speak. There is a spiritual message throughout the Bible, including the old and new testaments, interwoven into the history, the incidents, the happenings great and small.

Jesus said in his high priestly prayer, "Father I thank thee that thou has hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and revealed them unto babes, for so it seemed good in thy sight".

If you want with your human flesh and reasoning to take some meaning from the Bible, you do so at your own risk. Heavenly wisdom can only come from God, so pray for God to send his spirit to reveal His Word to your heart. It's the only way that His Word can be spiritually beneficial.

<<<Yes, the religious right certainly is a political group -- and their focus and reason for being is to get laws passed that will force everyone else to live according to what they hold to be right according to their own so-called religious principles.>>>

Yeah and we all see the same kind of zeolotry from left wing whackos when they kiss the ground of Mother Earth(First).

Wallace Stevens speaking on the sayings of Jesus,

"Also, he did not want people to get married, and if they were married, he did not think they should have children. This is because he believed that the end of the world was actually coming, so it would be wrong to have children."

Where, pray tell, did you come up with this? I want a reference.

Ray

To say that all the family values espoused within the Bible are Jewish not Christian betrays your ignorance. Christianity was a sect within the Jewish religion in the first centuries after his death.
