I haven't made any statements which directly compares AMD & Intel's process technology (at least that I can remember). I will simply let them stand on their own merits. AMD's top speed is 350mhz and Intel's is 450mhz. AMD increases it's top of the line speeds at a slower rate than Intel does. At one time the speed difference was nil, now it's 100mhz. What conclusion would a reasonable person draw from these data points?

What do you think motivated AMD to ally with Motorola? I think AMD concluded that it would not have a 0.18u process ready in time to compete with Intel. This coincides with reports in the trade press that Intel is 6 months ahead of schedule with 0.18u.
