John, while there is no way to prove the gov't rescues the mkt occasionally I suspect they do- it fits in with there band aid short term approach to problem solving. From a longer term perspective intervention simply emboldens "investors" to take greater risks and creates a bigger bubble which inevitably must burst causing greater damage than would otherwise be the case.
