Internet Ventures Inc. To Focus On Larger Clusters;
Mutually Terminates Agreement With Sun Country Cable

August 28, 1998

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE) via NewsEdge
Corporation -- Internet Ventures Inc., the
California-based provider of dial-up and high-speed
Internet service, announced Thursday that it would
focus new launches of its high-speed PeRKInetin a local
calling area.

The announcement was made by Don Janke, president
of Internet Ventures (IVI).

In conjunction with the refocusing, IVI (
perki.net or ivn.net also
announced that it had reached an accord with Sun
Country Cable to terminate the 1997 agreement that
would have provided PeRKInet service to subscribers in
selected Sun Country systems, beginning with a
1,700-subscriber system in Groveland, Calif.

"As the high-speed Internet industry evolves, each
provider will find the niche that works best for its
business," said Janke, in making the announcement.
"We've made a commitment to provide totally turnkey
subscriber access at a new price point of $29.95. That
business model is based in part on our ability to reach a
larger number of subscribers in a given region than we
originally planned.

"David Kinley, Sun Country's president, has been a
supporter of IVI since the company's earliest days. We're
grateful to him for his understanding of our need to
mirror, in a smaller way, the same cluster strategy that
has worked so well for the cable industry."

Since the new pricing structure was launched Aug. 3,
PeRKInet subscribership in the Humboldt County market
served by IVI's Northcoast Internet affiliate and Cox
Cable Humboldt has risen from 50 to more than 125. IVI's
VenturaLink affiliate and Avenue TV Cable will officially
launch the service in Ventura, Calif. Sept. 1.

PeRKInet subscribers receive download speeds up to
256Kbps for $29.95 per month, only $8 more than the
cost of standard dial-up service from Internet Ventures
affiliates. The price, which represents a 50 percent
saving over previous PeRKInet pricing, is the lowest in
the nation by a high-speed cable broadband Internet
access vendor.

Traditionally, high-speed Internet-over-cable costs have
ranged from $34.95 to $55 per month.

The $29.95 monthly charge includes a $21.95 Internet
access charge, which is billed to subscribers directly by
IVI's affiliated ISP's. The remaining $8 is included on the
bills of IVI's cable or wireless partners. All necessary
hardware is provided by Internet Ventures at no charge.
In addition, IVI works with its affiliates and partners to
waive setup fees for limited periods.

Other companies which offer Internet Access (Internet
Service Providers) are @Home (NASDAQ: ATHM),
Earthlink (NASDAQ: ELNK), Soft Net Systems (AMEX:
SOF), Mindspring (NASDAQ: MSPG), Online System
Service (NASDAQ: WEBB), PSINet (NASDAQ: PSIX)
and Rocky Mountain Internet (NASDAQ: RMII).

PeRKInet uses a Phone Return Cable Internet
technology which combines regular phone lines and
existing cable TV plant to deliver Internet access at
speeds substantially greater than X2 and K56Flex
modems.

PeRKInet offers downloads up to 256kbps downstream
for PeRKInet Limited subscribers and up to 10Mbps for
commercial customers. Upstream data is moved via a
telephone modem at up to 33.6kbps or via an ISDN
terminal adapter at up to 128kbps. Customers receive
data on a PC equipped with a cable modem and an
Ethernet card.

for exurban markets. The company's current operations
