(This is not meant as an "irritating" question, although it will probably seem like one).

What is the difference between *this* and "this" please?

Jon.

Leland - 3. No one (with the exception of Dave ;) ) on this thread has *any* idea of what they are talking about when it comes to patents. This is not suprising by the way since it is a *very* complicated area. It is not an area one dabbles in or has a "feel" for.

Since this comment is obviously directed at me, I would note that unless you are a full time IP attorney I've probably spent a lot more time in the Law Library and looking through casebooks over the last year (looking up IP issues) than you have.

Clark

PS In case you didn't catch it, Michael was trying to defend/help you. Why did you choose to attack him?

As one who has been on this thread for quite a while I am sure that you understand that I was not trying to belittle or attack you, but (you knew that was coming right), since you asked everything that I said in that post was carefully thought out, and carefully typed. I am sorry that you took it as an attack but the IP issues have been thoroughly hashed out in this forum. As a matter of fact if you look back in the history of the forum I am sure that you will find the exact numbers of the patents that were at the time considered by some to be the lynch pins in the QCOM portfolio of patents. As far as reading Farenheit 451 I have read it and I have no intention of getting into a pissing contest with you about censorship. If you got me going you would see that I am the furthest from a censor but at the same time I would be kicked off the board for posting some of my thoughts about why you answered like you did.

The short answer for why I answered you like I did was that Gregg Powers has spent an extensive amount of time amd patience explaining to every "Johnny come lately" the research that his patent lawyers have discovered and how impenatrable he believes the QCOM patent wall is. I am tired of people popping in and asking questions that I believe have been answered here before many times. I think that is why we need a FAQ area.

BTW: I noticed that you have been posting here since at least 1997, did you turn to another discussion for a while? If you had been monitoring this specific forum for a while you would have known the beginning of the answers before you asked the questions you asked, or was that why you asked them?
