for one thing, it means you can buy the common on margin by putting up about $3.5, not much more than the warrants and, of course, you don't have to pay to convert them. you do have pay margin rates which are quite low right now and you also have to take the risk that lgnd could fall below 5 and then you would have to cover your margin on that stock.

It means that if LGNDW expired today, they would be worthless. However, the current cost is the time premium which anticipates that LGND will be back in double digits by June of 2000.
