"It clearly pointed out the only economic advantage of communism. Basic distribution of basic goods."

I have starving family in Cuba that will disagree.

Geoff,

I estimate that I read the book about 35 years ago. I think you are over reacting to my faulty memory of the book. You have taken my post and made a big issue of it without bothering with the context of the message. The message being that Russia could not turn into a capitalist country over night. The best we can hope for is stability.

Being wrong about a book I read so long ago does not bother me. I have made mistakes, and certainly admit them. Should you desire to set the record straight with your more recent and I'm sure more accurate remembrance, I have no difficulty with that.

I do object to the passion with which you denounce me. Less haste to condemn your fellow man in a public forum might serve you well. But then again, perhaps it has given you some great intellectual pleasure. If that is the case, please feel free to jump on me again. I have old thick skin.

Perhaps I did fail to understand Friedman at the approximate age of nineteen or twenty. By the way, I did get his message that communism was bad on many levels. I did fight against it on real battle fields where real people died. I also got spit on and called stupid for doing it. So your are not the first person to point out that I am mentally inadequate. I am just as sure that you won't be the last.

Perhaps I will pick up "Capitalism and Freedom" and read it again. I have no doubt that you are an expert in the field economics at this point. Maybe a college professor. On second thought, I don't think so. It is really not that important to me at this stage of my life.
