Justa, if Russia returns to a controlled economy under the leadership of a hardliner, I think the following is possible:

Foreign money, that is the money that is still in Russia, will flee the country. This will further hurt their economy.

The U.S. and the other western countries will probably start to rearm including the build-up of NATO. This will take money. Of course the money spent for rearming will come from monies that would other wise be invested in the markets and other areas. The net result of this will be to weaken our economies.

I just don't think that Russia's going backward is good for anyone. What Russia needs to do is follow the advise of the Europeans and the U.S.

Time will tell how this plays out.
