Are you talking about Granville Street in Vancouver, B.C.?

"THERE JUST CHILDREN"

As the wind whistles by
she crouches under a bridge
wondering
praying
and not knowing
how to give life a try

Niether adult nor child
the system doesn't care
her yearnings seem small
a meal
a bed
a place not to get raped
is all that she dare

As the chill gets deeper
she hopes for a blanket
but all she pictures are stares
and sad looks that seem not to care

The politicians talk
and people do to
but it means really nothing
until she learns to walk and talk
like me and you

Some live in dumpsters
as it's warm and safe
until they sell their bodies
to a very wrong date

I wonder and grieve
why few seem to help
after all "there just children"
can't we stand up
reach out our hand
and simply help
