The group took its beating this week along with the rest of the stocks. The group loss for the week was 13 percent. Two stocks were up and 39 were down - most of them by a lot. A few of the stocks, like SFLX and FSII, that had been beaten up so badly already and had little left to give, didn't react as badly as the "high flyers". One or 2 more weeks like this and very little will be left of the group. Anybody volunteer to say "last rites" over the group? Sort of reminds me of Chuck Norris when he is after a particularly bad guy in Walker, Texas Ranger. The last good week for the semi-equips was the week closing 10/10/97. With today's close, the group is down 64 percent. The group will have to gain 179 percent to get back to the 10/10/97 level. ASEC at the end of the table is down 89 percent and will have to gain 832 percent to get back to the 10/10/97 point. Only 5 stocks out of 41 have lost less than 50 percent. With the momentum and present outlook, they probably won't last long.
