>>The reason NSCP made no attempt to collect payment was to expand thier market share as quickly and widely as possible.

What can any company honestly do to enforce the collection of payments?>

Download NetObjects and try to use it past the trial period to find out. Then go to the Cryp Key site, that is what I use. It is very popular among Financial Spreadsheet Add-in vendors. It gives you granular accuracy. You can set the software to run for XXX days, XXX number of runs, or XXX number of uniqu userson a network. It is also very hard to break for professionals, most amateurs won't even try.

<Microsoft is the biggest whiner of pirated software and does not allow it any more than you or I would. It is one of those things that software companies have to generally accept as part of doing business; like retail stores put up with shoplifting. The honest consumer just ends up absorbing the losses like always.>

Whose site do you think is the larget promoter of Cryp Key? Don't you think MSFT could stop piracy if they wanted to? Think out of the box Norm!

<Unfortunately for honest consumers like you and I this sometimes backfires when the hardware "dongle" fails or the "key" disk that cannot be properly backed-up fails.

There are ways of defeating both software and hardware protection if the returns are high enough!>

You no longer need software key disks, crytpic numeric strings are all that is necesary, all you have to do is write it down. The strings only work on one OS bonded to one hard drive. If you forget the string, call tech support. Although there are ways to break the protection, is the return high enough to spend 2000 man hours for $89.95. That is how protection works, it makes it easier to pay for the software in liue of hacking through it. Those nerdy types who would rather spend the 2000 hours only to have the algorithm changed in a few days are the vast minority, they do not represent much in loss sales.
