Ms. Shell,
I have been thumbing through some reading that may interest you, It has to do with Drs. Lorrichio's and Pettit's research on Phyllanthatin and Leukemia.
It appears that the Drs. were able to isolate Phyllanthatin from the roots of Phyllantbus Acuminatus N.. It ( Phyllanthatin ) was found to inhibit growth of Murinep-338 Lymphocytic Leukemia cell line.
It seems that Dr. Pettit is indebted to Dr. Lorrichio for his work in this area. Have you any idea how that was expressed?

Do you have a copy of the journal article in question or are you simply quoting material from the AZNT web site?

TIA

As you may recall, I asked two questions of you concerning this message:

1. Have you read the article in question or any portion of it?
2. Is Dr. Loricchio one of the authors?

Let us answer the second of these two questions. Although it requires a somewhat specialized search engine (albeit one that is available in a variety of forms at a multitude of sites), the answer is available on the web. Here is the abstract:

infotrieve.com

Note the correspondence (aside from misspelled/misparsed words in your post) between the abstract and your description of the research. Also AZNT's web page amazon-treasures.com
makes reference to it: "... Quoted from the the Journal of Natural Products, November-December 1990, the isolation and structural elucidation of new Phyllanthus Glycoside Phyllanthosthatin was summarized. ..."

Next, note the authors in the Medline abstract: Pettit GR; Schaufelberger DE; Nieman RA; Dufresne C; Saenz-Renauld JA

I don't see Dr. Loricchio's name, do you?

The thought occurred to me that perhaps Dr. Loricchio was mentioned in the article's acknowledgement section. So I have waited until I had a chance to examine the full journal article. I have now done so. There is quite a long list of funding agencies and other researchers whose names are given, however, I can see no mention of Dr. Loricchio. I also learned something interesting from the first two sentences of the article:

"The Central American tree Phyllanthus acuminatus Vahl (Euphorbiaceae) has been found to produce a new series of potentially useful antineoplastic glycosides. From 1978 to 1986, Costa Rican collections of the roots and stems of this tree were investigated; these investigations led to ..."

I see no mention of Brazil or Dr. Loricchio anywhere in the article. Incidentally, though the abstract mentions results from a murine lymphocytic leukemia model, the principal results of the article are not about leukemia research in either animals or humans. Instead they concern results related to the compounds themselves.

Here is the list of the various parties listed in the acknowledgement section. To save some typing, I have replaced the various grant and contract numbers with the '#' symbol.

NCI Grants #, Outstanding Investigator # and Contract # from the [NCI] Division of Cancer Treatment,
National Cooperative Drug Discovery Group Grant #,
U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command Grant #,
Arizona Disease Control Research Commission,
Swiss National Science Foundation,
Eleanor W. Libby,
The Waddell Foundation,
The Frannie E. Rippel Foundation,
Herbert K. and Dianne Cummings,
The Nathan Cummings Foundation,
Lotte Flugel,
Polly J. Trautman
And for other assistance:
Drs S.B. Singh, J.M. Schmidt, M.I. Suffness, and Messrs. P.J. Daschner and L. Williams
Assistance from the NSF Regional Instrumentation Facility in Nebraska (Grant #) and NSF NMR equipment Grant #

Now that you've undoubtedly had a chance to go through my post
( #reply-5676313 ) concerning the article abstracted in:
infotrieve.com ,

I have two questions for you:

What part of "Drs. Lorrichio's and Pettit's research" was Dr. Loricchio's?
Was AZNT either directly or indirectly the source of the information in your #reply-5617622?

Could this be the answer to your question?:

Dear Ms. Shell:

Just a note to let you know that I have been in contact with Dr. Pettit and to let you know that Dr. Pettit has no knowledge of and is not affiliated with Amazon Natural Treasures.
