Let me share a few impressions from the Checkfree/Gintel Oceanside Update and Conference Session...

It is a shame the way the audio came out. When we got the phone call that it was bad, Pete moved over closer to the mike, and it apparently improved a little. Later in the Q & A, the operator mentioned background interference. Pete reached down and turned off the projector that was being used for his Powerpoint presentation. The projector was sitting on the table right behind the mike, and it had a cooling fan going....After turning it off Pete asked "Is that better?" and the operator said "Perfect!"

A little too late, unfortunately.

P Mudge was there taking copious notes, and promised to do a full write up on the plane back to San Diego. Be looking for a crisply written and edited report from her...

I imagine Benny will weigh in with extensive observations.

I can tell you that I came away from the conference with renewed confidence in the company, the correctness of their overall strategy, and the powerful influence that E-Bill will have as it begins to roll out in earnest next year. My impression is that E-bill gets positive momentum going Checkfree's way from all directions....Checkfree revenues, consumer interest in E-bill and Billpay service, Banker interest in having repeat "you've got bills" visitors to their websites, number of vendors with direct links to Checkfree, completion of the "end-to-end" concept, and so on...

I will be significantly adding to my position in the coming week, and 9's looks like a gift to me. Some of you remember the buying opportunity we were given in the 9's back in April 97. It worked well then, I hope it works again.

The conference was wonderful in many, many ways...Bob Gintel is The Man! Mr. Congeniality and Mr. Generosity. Thank you Bob!

I will stop there with plenty of details unsaid, so that other attendees can share their impressions...

Best regards to all,

Brian
