I don't want to defend either party in this lawsuit but, as I recall, someone on this thread (or yahoo) showed that there wasn't a lot of shorting going on.
Again, as I recall, Sovereign made money by getting their shares at a 20% or more discount on the current price every time they converted a block of debentures. This happened in stages and I think they only converted one stage before the share price took a dive.
Like most people, I have trouble understanding shorting but I don't see how Sovereign/Dominion could make money on shorting.
