She had little choice. Williams faced major fines if she did not wear the logo of the tournament's sponsors, the Canadian software manufacturer Corel Corp. and the Women's Tennis Association.

...Nevertheless, at the US Open, Williams was required by the Women's Tennis Association to wear the Corel/WTA logo. Industry sources say Corel paid $4 million for the deal, which expires after this year.
