Dwight - I couldn't access your airline portfolio.

I think DAL is a good buy. We'll see what happens next week!

$TRAN was up pretty good too - even thought NWAC is on strike!

Lots of reasons - Low oil prices, heavy loads, record profits, holidays coming, more Baby Boomers with $$$ to spend, costs under control,...

I tried to buy DAL, market order, thru Fidelity today. Called :05 minutes before market closed. Broker said he'd be right back and by the time he returned, it was too late - market had closed! I think I'm going to switch brokers from Fidelity to DATEK!

>>Btw, that airline that was up over 7% today? NWAC, and the pilots went on strike a few hours ago. Strange, at least I don't see the rationale.

The airline is totally shut down. >>

They don't have to worry about a terrorist bombing I guess...
or a human error on them pharking rivets on the rear elevator wing!!!

airlines

>>>anyone want to take a stab at explaining why airlines were up virtually across the board, with one up over 7%?<<<

I follow this sector also

you might add a couple more

MESA
RENO

GM ... there may be an interesting correlation here
when it announced the strike (end of June) the stock went up ....
when they announced the settlement it went down ....
it has done this on a previous strike many years ago also.

could this happen to Northwest also?

I posted this when the GM strike first started ... played it ... and made very goods gains playing the chart a few days at a time.
