Rare: Excellent reports...I was wondering what the valuations for ltr might be assuming they spin off their tobacco operations...was thinking of taking a position in that co. Thanks.

I just saw the most interesting commercial on Comedy Central for the "Viva Variety" tv show. It had the hosts, I forget their names, touting the "Viva Variety" cigarette brand. They light up on screen, and guess what the cigarette box looked like? That's right, the famous Marlboro red chevron. It was basically a Marlboro Reds box, with the other logo pasted over it. The commercial was pretty long, but the point is that the Marlboro logo was clearly displayed. I wonder if MO paid for that discreet advertisement, or if the Marlboro brand is just that popular.

What was so interesting was that the actors and actresses were smoking on camera, and it was a funny commercial.

Did anyone else see this commercial, and have a similar reaction to it? I was dumbstruck, and thought it was great. The power of the Marlboro brand, logo, is amazing.

On a separate note, I read that Anheuser is going ahead with its price increase, has anyone heard officially if Miller is going along? If so, that should provide a nice increase in earnings for MO, which will likely attract more investors since beer is yet another defensive play. But with the current market psyche, who knows?

best of luck,
geoff
