To All,

As the "Impeaching Debate" begins, I have some questions I would like to put to this thread:

Based on the following set of events:

If the Debate goes beyond "humiliating the president" and actually, as it has been suggested, there is enough evidence for impeachment (or forced resignation), then Vice-president Gore will become president.

If so:

I understand there is already an ongoing investigation in re: the role in which Mr. Gore played in the Democratic party Campaign contributions related to some Chinese individuals.

This seems to me that it would also lead to "impeachment" of "President Gore"

If so:

The main questions here are:

1. Will Congress actually go for this double-play?

2. Can it be done within the current term of this Presidency?

3. If both President and Vice-President are thrown out, Who becomes President? is my understanding that the "Speaker of the House", i.e. Newt Gingrich, becomes President, correct?.

4. If my above assumption is correct:

Given the specific agenda that some members of the Republican party seems to hold, (including certain "zeal" for their "pet projects" and constant "vetoes", by courtesy of President Clinton to the same. It would seem to me that this Congress may be more than willing to do the above, in order to achieve their goals. Or would common sense allow them to show some restraint?

5. What would be the short term/long term effect on the current strength of the US Dollar, if the above events unfold?

I would appreciate an education. Thank you.

Z.
