What happen in the '94 time frame that caused Stack to become bearish?

As I recall, his timing model relied heavily on the Fed. And I believe you're correct, the Fed was tightening during '94. He never went back into US equities as long as I was a subscriber (through Mar '96, I believe). He did admit his model missed the big move in '95, and he tried to correct the model to account for it, but he believed stocks were overvalued by then, and remained in cash.
