Rich,

Excellent post! Something I've learned from Jimmy Rogers is to watch market sentiment combined with news events. When market sentiment is overly bullish you sell and wait for news that confirms your bearishness and changes bulls to bears. You should not change your bearish position until there is news that confirms it and sentiment changes. Sometimes one can wait a long time for confirming news, with the stock or market trending downward the whole time.

What you and all of us need to is ask, "Have we had confirming news and a change in sentiment that indicates a bottom?" Over the past week or so we have had bad news from Russia, but has it scared us enough? I think short-term it has and we will see a little bounce soon. The way we bounce will indicate the future direction of the market. If the bounce is strong and there's a quick return to bullishness that's not good.
