You know, in speaking about Jesus the Christ as Lord(which He is) I really have to look at about this came about. I mean really, who are your heroes, mighty men of old? MAybe a military man or woman? A grandmother? One of the astronauts perhaps? Martin Luther King? Thomas Jefferson? Most of us have some sort of a hero. The scribes, and Pharisees that followed Jesus around hounding Him,knew there was a Savior coming. They had been taught that all their lives. But Jesus did not look like their savior(or at least their idea of him.) I mean , come-on This guy was born out of, at the very least, questionable(to the people) circumstances by a teenage girl who was not married. What would the law have said about that? Stoning right? He was born not in a palace but in a barn. We are not talking about what your Christmas cards look like here, you know the ones, where the little donkey is standing next to a clean pile of hay by Mary with sweet baby Jesus asleep in her arms, little mouse up on the window sill looking at the King of Kings. haha. No were talking about old Joe loading up his very pregnant wife to be, and carting her off down the road to a town where the census would take place, finding no available rooms and staying in a barn with a bunch of livestock. NOW IS THIS HOW YOU WANT YOUR HERO'S STORY TO START?? I would not start mine that way if I had a choice to tell you about my Savior/hero.Would you? Not to mention being the son of a carpenter, who before the age of two, before He even knew why He was doing it, had to flee the country for His very life. That brings up another interesting situation.You don't see every child two and below getting slaughtered on our holiday cards either do you ? Jesus came to feel all humanness. Think he had dirty diapers? Think he had snotty noses? He was human was he not? THAT GIVE YOU WARM FUZZIES ABOUT THE KING OF KINGS? And this just about the beginning of life!! You think a bunch of uneducated men got together, and decided lets make our hero so the world will think it can be saved through Him and then START their story as Jesus' life started?? Would you?? Isn't that terribly risky?? You think those same men, most of whom went to early graves professing the Name of Jesus as Lord, by not very favorable deaths, were out to make a name and place for themselves? You think Stephen when he was stoned by the people, was saying, "Yes got them right where I want them now". You think the other apostles who were killed by various means, were doing so that they could control the population for their gain? You think Paul said "for me to live is Christ and die is gain", because he wanted to fake out a lot of ungrateful folks, about the King of Kings? Hardly seems logical does it? THIS HOW YOUR HERO TREATS HIS MOST LOYAL SUBJECTS? wait....where are the robes and crowns... and payback... and status,.. the Lexus,... and condo on the beach, ...and money pouring in from those prayer cloths...and and and.....wheres the stuff!!. Jesus out to control the world? If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
