<<csco already derived 50-60% revenue from web-based commerce>>

<Yeah but what do they mean by that is what I would like to know. Are you saying that csco takes 50% of its orders online? If so, so what. What Im talking about are mfg efficiencies.>

majority of web-based commerce today includes order and transactions oriented operations, information distribution, configuration help and technical support. As to Mfg efficiencies in relationship to web-based commerce, it depends, almost all networkers outsource the bulk of their mfg to outfits such as SLR, and defintely SLR types of companies will and use whatever economy of scale they can get to maximize their operations; this may include Internet VPN type network that serves their suppliers and users etc.
Although enterprise resource planning and supply chain within a closed user group type network is possible today, electronic web-based applications-aware commerce in a large global scale is not; key missing points are diverse applications level connectivity (it's easier vs network connectivity) and networks that can scale to support thousands to tens-of-thousands any-to-any connectivity in a predictable, secure, timely, economical and reliable manner.
