If I lived far from police protection I would want a shotgun. I don't believe there is any reason that most of the populace needs to be armed with handguns, and I support mandatory locking mechanisms. I think that any adult who by negligence or any other reason is responsible for letting a gun get into the hands of a child should be convicted of a felony. I also support the idea that anyone who uses a gun in the commission of a crime should be put in prison for a very, very long time. However, now that we have criminalized nonviolent crimes many violent criminals are being released to make room for them. That doesn't make any sense to me.
