JEB: A happy GNE ending... Many times following a stock down a hole can leave you stranded... But there is an important lesson here, knowing everything you can about the companies you invest in... One of my criteria for a long term investment is management credibility... Do they do what they said they would do... If you own such a stock, averaging down can be a good long term strategy... As for the market... A trip down memory lane to the Bear Market of the early 70's shows a good economy prior to the market plunge... Nixon was on his way out... You couldn't find an economist with a gloomy forecast... Today, most economists rule out a recession... This tells me we're headed for a recession... It was these same economists that forecasted gloom and doom prior to Bill Clinton taking office in 1992... They make a great contrary indicator... : > Jim
