Well Christine, If I'm missing your points then you are also undoubtedly missing mine. :-)

Let me try and say this again as clearly as possible. I never said the quote is false, just that I would like to see corroboration before I completely agree with it. Are you purposely misrepresenting my position again?

I rarely ever believe something written in a newspaper without seeing if it at least has been corroborated by another news outlet. The Washington Post is one of the most liberal newspapers in the country. They and their writers would like nothing better than to see more money dumped down a rat hole in the pursuit of Global Warming. Why? because all socialists (liberal Democrats) want the peoples money in the hands of government. They still believe the smart people running government will put it to better use than the eeevil American corporations.

This was not a distraction. You asked the question about why I didn't automatically go belly up and believe the quote from the Washington Post regarding Global Warming. I simply answered your question.

Let's say for the sake of argument the Nassau official was misquoted in a private interview with a Washington Post reporter. How exactly do you see him getting the word out? How would he expose the lie?

If your belief system allows you to believe anything written by the Washington Post without corroboration. Than fine. My experience tells me to be a little skeptical and see if it's backed up by another news source first.
