Jim,

I don't recall but there have been press and I believe that Intel at their last conf. call stated that they would be in 0.18 by Q2 99 I think.

They certainly percieve AMD as a threat and are trying to keep several speed grades ahead while trashing the lower Mhz devices market so AMD can't make money.

With MOT already allegedly producing 0.18, AMD could use MOT as foundry for 0.18 in Q2 if they need to keep close in the Mhz range.

I think the MOT deal is and will be good for AMD.

Regards,

Kash

You wouldn't happen to have a URL for that report would you? How does 6 months early translate into volume shipment and which chips you you think will be made on .18u?

"We are now planning for a massive ramp-up of 0.18-micron technology for mid-'99, and the bulk of this year's planned [$5 billion] in capital spending is targeted at that," said Craig Barrett, president and soon-to-be chief executive officer of Intel.

Jim,

Re: "You wouldn't happen to have a URL for that report would you?"

Isn't that just a little hypocritical, Jim ... Especially after all your
AMD "private thread" and "Email" rumors/HYPE. I can't believe that NOW
you are asking for URL's. Pretty sad, IMHO.

Make It So,
