Santiago, Thanks. Ray is free to form his own beliefs here in the USA- It is guaranteed by our Constitution. I only "scratched the surface" in discussing persecution of Christians in Muslim Countries such as the central Asian Republics (excepting the good people of Kazakhstan) , Pakistan, Syria, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, etc., and various activities of Islamic fundamentalists. Indeed this historical trend is part of the reason I am in oilfield stocks. I also work in my spare time for the last few years with an outreach group which helps bring Muslims to Jesus. Santiago- Perhaps Ray would like to speak with some of the former Muslims we work with who converted to Christianity? Perhaps Ray too you can join me as a fellow American who believes in religious freedom in a prayer for Faisal Abdallah. He is a Sudanese believer from a Muslim background. He has been held in jail in the Sudan since May 1997 without trial or visitors because of his beliefs. And also pray for Rashid Turabayev, a former Muslim now believer in Uzbekistan who is serving a 2-year sentence of hard labor because he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray too for the many new Pakistani believers who face grave difficulties because of their new faith and who face abuse and ill treatment by the Islamic metowah (religious police). Note too that the Qur'an gives positive credence to the Scriptures, instructing Muslims to read the Bible and obey its commands. Surah (Surah means "Chapter" in Arabic) 2:87, 3:3, and 4:136 show that the Bible came from God. Surah 3:3, 5:44, and 6:91 indicate that the Bible has direction, guidance and light for man. Surah 2:121, 3:84, and 42:15 declare that the Bible is to be believed and it threatens those who do not believe it. Finally the Qur'an states that its purpose is not to replace the Bible but to confirm it. Surah 2:41,89, 91, 101, 6:92, 46:12, and 5:48. So you are free to be a Muslim, but I stand on firm ground in following the teachings of the only person in the history of Planet Earth to walk away from his grave.... I am also curious about one thing- as a Muslim how do you explain the revelations given by God to Mssrs. Mormoni and Moroni of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints? (BTW I am not a Mormon). The Qur'an says that God quit talking to the people of Earth circa 700a.d. Yet the revelations of the Book of Mormon say that God kept revealing him/herself right on past 700 a.d.through subsequent revelations such as to the Prophet Joseph Smith in the 1800's (or in the 1800's to the prophet of Bahai) , and indeed continues to reveal him/herself to this very day. (BTW that is not a "trick question"- just something to debate on another Thread). But let's cut this religious fol-du-rol here or move it somewhere else... Sincerely, Doug F. PS- Do you know what the Hamayouni Law of 1856 is? It is a law effective to this day in Egypt, originally enacted by the Ottoman Turks (who controlled Egypt at that time), which made it very difficult either to build or repair a church. (You need the approval of the President of Egypt himself). Despite recent cosmetic changes by Hosni Mubarak (bowing to persistent criticism at home and abroad) permits for new churches and church repairs for the last 140 years remain hard to get while mosques continue to receive special legal privileges...Now who are the downtrodden in the Middle East?
