>>a "milchfrau" rally<<
There must be an identical expression in english, possibly
Joe Blow, the guy in the street - when you hear the strangers
in the subway exchange opinions on the stock situation, then
you are talking about the "milkmaid" rally. Milkmaids were
girls bringing in milk every morning, doin the "finanshals"
("this will be two twenty thank you). When THEY start to
invest or sell, you got a milkmaid rally in Germany.

What concerns me, are the soothing words here in Germany:
"well, you know, it's JUST the BEEG guys selling, but the
LEEttle investor, he's behaving reall nice, thank you, he
is just keeping his calm".

And I see the typical investing couch potato, his eyes glazed
over, he's ignoring the burning cigarette on the floor and
the spilling beer bottle , that fell out of his paralyzed
hands, while his fried brain is trying to catch up :
"Is it happening to ME, or am I dreaming?" (out of
Rosemary's baby)

"Milchfrau" <> "mermaid"

DJ explored the German term "Dienstm„dchen"-rally. (I think that's "mermaid" in English, but I'm not sure?)

I remembered the "Oggersheimer (the "town" where our great cancellor was born) Milchfrau" (see the related link) and thought - more or less - on a "dead cat bounce".

Everybody who has seen that picture can understand the difference between real and hard items and a soft, overfloating thing.
