StockMan,

Re: "AMD altered some of the speed paths on the 333-MHz K6-2, which brought
volumes back up ..."

Sounds like AMD has a marginal part ... Particularly at 350mhz. It will
be very interesting to see them get to 400mhz and 450mhz (as promised)
over the next 6-8 months. Maybe they will have to make those process
changes that I suggested -->

"Bob,

Re: "AMD claims they will have 350MHz in Q3 and 400MHz in Q4. Do you think
they will do this on the current process?"

It could be possible to get 350mhz parts out of the existing process ... but the
control could be an issue. I would recommend that AMD develop a Rev2
device/FET that would use the existing interconnect from the .25um process.
This would be the sure way to get to 350mhz, 400mhz or 450mhz. This could be
developed in Santa Clara, but I would prefer to see this developed at the
manufacturing site (Austin). This is the only way for AMD to get "back in
the game".

Make It So,

It appears that AMD has learned it lesson.

They only announced the 350 after they had built production and a tier 1 was ready to ship PC's.

A much classier act than previously.

They clearly stated that they would ship "hundreds of thousands shortly". I take that to mean in Q3 and this will the real test.

If they can ship 300-500K this quarter and double that in Q4 they could be profitable in Q4 as I am sure 350 ASP's will average in the $150 range.

Regards,

Kash
