Marc: "I'm not sure what he could say at this point other than as far as he can tell we are still in a bull market and in his off presidential election year that should produce a great buying opportunity."

Brinker could further define what he means by "close to a bottom." Was this statement made within the context of Brinker definitions of a intermediate correction versus a bear market meaning we have a maximum of a 20% correction on our hands or was it in the context of a "major" midterm, off-presidential cycle "correction" which by definition could far exceed 20%? I would assume the former, but that is after a great deal of listening and inferential work on my part through stringing various show segments together. He should just tie it all in one package (segment(s))on the air so there are no misunderstandings. I think I know what he means by "close" but I should not have to guess. Does "close" mean a few percentage points from here or an intermediate correction of up to 20%? Who knows for sure. And if he doesn't have an opinion on the length and severity of the downturn due to the fact that this is a news related correction, then he should just come out and say so. We all respect his opinion and should not have to work like cryptographers to figure out where he stands.

Excellent post.

Re: "... I think we face a tough decision whether to e.g. dump some fixed income money into equities in a hope to faster make up some of the big losses faced recently or play this from a more defensive posture."

Key point. I've decided to continue very moderate buying, but I'm not going to stray too far from my desired asset allocation. Should the market really tank, I'll have to keep buying just to maintain my target percent equities.

Re: "I was wondering whether to dump Global Communications and stick the money elsewhere."

For what it's worth, I'm holding my small position in the Global Communications Fund. I believe that global communications will be a major growth theme for the next several decades.

Best wishes,

I2
