That's an interesting article you posted. The Hong Kong government has been going short the HK market via September futures while buying the shares currently. I bet they make a huge profit.

Cymer could do the same. Buy back Cymer shares today while buying September Cymer Puts at the same time. Then, dump the shares in September and collect a hefty return on the increase in value on the Puts.

Looks like the HK authority gave up in the afternoon and the HSI fell off the peg after 2:30 am EDT. Perhaps the shorts had to PTTTN to roll but were back in green on the September contracts immediately. If HKA and the speculators are shorting September HSI who is long?
