Paul,

Re: "Hell, I have only been here for a few days and ... There will be a ceiling
on just how much speed the public desires/needs, and im also betting we are near
that ceiling."

Did you think this at 200mhz as well ... how about at 266mhz, but I'm sure
you are right this time, IMHO. Been here a few days and already an expert. Are
you just "clowning around" ... I hope so.

Make It So,
Yousef

Actually its a rather funny point you made about this perpetual struggle to increase the speed. There will be a ceiling on just how much speed the public desires/needs, and im also betting we are near that ceiling.

The speed race isn't over. If the "need" is marginal, then ASPs will shift down, but the speed race continues unabated. It's a competitive world. At some price level speed becomes "free" (you are insensitive to further cost reductions) and you demand speed whether you "need" it or not. Right now this price level appears to be about 7-10% of system cost...this is the ASP floor.
