As I understand it, you cannot short penny stocks, even from Canada as the rumor has been. A number of SI posters in the past have called around to the various canadian brokers, and not one of them would allow shorting of penny's and said it could not be done. Just what I have heard.

Is investors shorting at all possible with OTC:BB ?

Possible? Done ALL the time. By MMs, it is standard procedure. They usually don't have the inventory of XYZW, so they short sell and plan to cover after. This is NOT a vindictive act, merely they don't want to give up the business. Sometimes they get burnt, so they keep shorting until the stock turns around.

Investors like you and me can't just call up Waterhouse or NDB or Schwab and short BBs., that is correct. But that doesn't mean that damage is not being done.

Off shore it is absolutely possible for regular old people to short. I have been told that Fidelity will permit investors to short BB albeit it is rather expensive.
