Sounds like good stuff. As an antibiotic I assume it kills bacteria but does not arbitrarily breakdown the endotoxins, it is this endotoxin neutralization property of Neuprex that separates it from other antibiotics.

There are some pretty esoteric antibiotics on the market and I am not familiar with all, but I thought there was some resistance evolving against even the newest "silver bullets." So far, bacteria have not developed a known resistance to BPI.

I generally agree with Tharos. Meropenem looks to be a excellent addition to the antibiotic arsenal, especially for use on tough bugs.
Meropenem is probably a better antibiotic, with a broader spectrum ,
and probably more toxic than bpi.
Bpi however is a
1. antibiotic in itself
2. Synergizes or is additive to most antibiotics without impairment.
3 Is "strikingly" endotoxin neutralizing
4. is the off switch to lbp on cd14 regarding the inflamation cascade.
5. might halt 1L-1,1L-6,1L-8, and TNF (due to bacteria exposure)
6. is antiangiogenic
7. might be antithrombolytic
8. might enhance host defense in cancers,AIDS,etc.
9. etc.etc...........
I hope that helps to clarify your comparison. :-)
Oh Yeah.> Thats only neuprex bpi21.
