Randy<Bears, am I wrong, or is it an order of magnitude valuation problem you're claiming. Or let me ask it this way: If Amazon could garner 90% of the online music, books, and video (and I'm certainly not proposing this as a realistic scenario) within a year, but their gross margin remained the same as today, what's a fair value for the stock?>
Let me ask you this? If you had the opportunity to sell Books, Cd's, any commodities to Asia,Latin America,Russia,or Mexico @ no profit!
Wouldn't you rather sell them groceries @ a small profit?
Why are you so concerned about Amzn's stock price, when the poor Russians are starving?

>>One argument I haven't seen, which is in favor of Amazon's future being healthy, is that as the internet becomes more popular, the most popular web sites will become even more popular as new users come to the internet.

That is exactly the investment thesis for Amazon: First-mover advantage combined with the principle of increasing returns.
