I went to, Best Buy, Circuit City, Comp USA, Office Depot and played it like a dumb consumer. I looked for systems with the same configurations but with different processors (K6-2 and P2 and Celeron and Cyrix MII) I talked to about 10 different sales people today and asked what processor they would reccomend I buy? I was shocked at the end of My evaluation today. Every single sales person I talked to recomended the AMD K6-2 3D Now processor! I was told in Multi media applications a K6-2 300megahertz beats an Intel PII 400 Megahertz (thats what one sales person said) other sales people told Me the Intel Celeron was a poor performing processor, it seems they were all negative on the "Celeron Name". Perhaps Intel should name the "Celeron A" something else. They really made the Celeron into a bad name from what I was getting from all the sales people. I only found one "Celeron A" computer, it was at Best Buy and no one seemed interested in it. I saw two K6-2 computers sold while I was there. It seems the 3D now is being hyped by sales people. I also only saw one AMD K6-II 350 megahertz it was an IBM Computer at CompUSA. I checked two HP systems all things being equal except one was a K6-II 333 Megahertz and one was a PII 333 megahertz the K6-II box was $100 less they sold 36 of these k6II in one month and only 10 of the ones with the PII in the same time frame.
Just some thoughts; Joe
