Please go to the above Amzn 10Q filing. Please note that most of Amzn's expenses, excluding direct purchasing costs for the books, are not expensed before gross profit.

The bottom lines are all in red, and will be in red for a while. There is absolutely no marginal profit for each or all books sold. There is just no profit period for a while. Amzn says it will take 3 to 5 years to have any profit.
