Michelle, I spent many years as a "Star" salesman for some major's, and refused to do the paperwork. I think my real reason was that I did not want the office to know what I was doing, plus an immature attitude. I now run my own home improvement marketing business, my son is my star salesman, and I pull what remains of my hair out trying to get him to turn in paperwork. I guess I am paying for my past sins!
I have never seen the nuts and bolts of Siebel's sales reporting system, but, in defense of the sales reps, I would bet it has a lot of required input that the sales force sees no benefit from. I'm "spitballing", but I would train the sales reps into a system such as this on a "what's in it for me" track. Too often, these type of reporting systems turn into a "freebee" for home office types, (read REMF's), to collect information that the sales force thinks is irrelevant, or intrusive. When you are out there on the sharp end of the stick, you hate to spend your time filling out forms for clerks!
