Logic does not always work for me when Windows asks for the location of the info. It seems like I have to try several times before it is satisfied. Sometimes it seems like I use an exact same procedure but with varying results.

It is certainly possible that the driver was on the harddrive. Anyhow, I think you are saying your harddrive is C and the CDROM is D. Logic is out the door if your harddrive is not C.
