Three major bearish indications started signaling in April:

1) Dow Transports diverged from the Industrials.
2) A/D line began falling hard.
3) Small stocks (as represented by the Russell 2000) began falling hard.

I would rank their importance in that order. We often get 3) without an overall bear market. We sometimes get 2) without an overall bear market. We rarely get 1) without a bear market, and the odds of getting all of the above without a bear market are quite slim.
