Christine,

<<the cyber relationships we form are apparently fractured, strange ones which do not really nurture us?>>

Presumably true. But I'd suggest that anybody who looks to cyber-relationships for nurturing has much bigger problems than internet addiction. The great advantage of cyber-relationships is that we can conduct them while pretending to work.

Which is not depressing at all.

I suspect that if I (and I suspect others as well) were subjected to study, those studying would conclude that all of my relationships are fractured and strange. Which bothers me not in the least. I have better things to do than living up to the expectations of remote academics.

If we studied the relationships of the authors of the study, I wonder what we'd find?
