Lee and Ray re market bottoms

The danger with buying stocks at these levels, irrespective of quality, is that there may be more downside before it is all over--and that assumes that all is well with the economy going forward. If the economy is going to get adversely affected by all these global events, then we may be looking at a whole lot of downside.

Now if one has a long enough horizon, yes, one will come out ahead. But I'd rather buy when there are some signs of stablizing -- even if I enter a few points higher.

This market is discounting something--I don't know what. But I'd rather wait -- especially given that we are into earnings season -- and a historically vulnerable period for the markets--the months of September and October. For a point at which to buy look at insider buying trends--I am not referring to one company--but overall insider buying. At significant market bottoms, there is a huge amount of insider buying that occurs--and it goes on for a while before the market turns.
