The beauty of the sell off is that there is still no panic-level volume or magnitude and seems quite orderly. The ups seems to be intermediate short covering and part of the down is from short sellers combined with may be intemed-smart money distributing. Considering the volumes are not at panic proportions, many the long position holders seem to be thinking that this will come up soon like in October, which it may but then again may not.
