I agree with you wholeheartedly!

And additionally, when we submit to God, we are submitting to someone who is 100% perfect. Isn't it better to rely on someone perfect 100% of the time than to rely on ourselves with a much, much lower perfection percentage.

I am not sure if this is what you meant, if it isnt, then ignore my answer:-)

It sounds like you are saying that I should just submit to god because he is more powerfull and that it would be in my best interests. If, that is what you are saying, I cant go along with that on several grounds. I would rather go ahead with good intentions and good works(when possible) and hope for the best, then kowtow to an angry and threatening god.

The reality is that I dont think that is remotely how God feels or works. the concept of god threatening someone is very foreign to me.
