Jim, you're right, it had to happen, but it had to happen because the "guidance" provided heretofore was "suspect". The company must have known that revenue growth didn't parallel subscriber growth because of contract minimums yet they left analyst believing that they did. It also is very unlikely that management just became aware of the mass transition to the internet.

Consequently, like you said, it had to happen, but in most cases management would have managed the expectations such that the analyst who "bought the story" wouldn't have looked so foolish, in which case the stock price wouldn't have been so harshly demolished. IMHO
