I agree that the Clinton thing was only a catalyst to change the confidence of investors and shift the focus to problems rather than on reasons for enthusiasm. The ying and yang of prosperity/growth v. contraction are always battling for supremacy in the collective consciousness. The moral crusade has good, worthy intentions - they are just misplaced and blown out of proportions with more appropriate and greater governmental responsibilities. I think it's more of a factor than you are willing to admit.
