QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC - APRIL 1, 2000 - The President of the Quebec State of America, the newest country in the world, today announced measures to help bolster its fledging economy and create employment for thousands of unemployed Quebequers.

Mr Bouchard, President of Quebec, announced the signing of an exclusive production and distribution agreement with Aunt Jemima for all Quebec maple products, including Quebec's internationally acclaimed maple syrup. Aunt Jemima stated: "We are pleased to have been selected as Quebec's exclusive exporter of maple syrup. Those who haven't tried Quebec maple syrup on my pancakes should be ashamed of themselves. It is absolutely the best breakfast around, better than peanut butter and jam."

Mr Bouchard added: "As part of this agreement we are hiring 50,000 more policemen to keep an eye on over 2 million square kilometers of maple tree forest. This agreement is exclusive. Auntie Jemima is the only person allowed to produce and export maple syrup. We expect thousands of arrests as maple syrup addicted Quebequers will from now on be prevented from having parties at their local sugar shack."

Mr Bouchard, a maple syrup addict himself concluded: "If in two years we find it impossible to prevent people from producing maple syrup, we will have no alternative but to burn down our maple tree forests."
