re: POS-obsessive

I'm going to bed now to ponder the above. <ggg> When I wake up, I will have my shares in the 90s, the sun will be bright and a new market will be born. Thank you market gods. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Who's going to prosper after the dust settles?

I was just about to turn in after a tumultuous day, when it occurred to me that despite Dell's plummeting stock price, the companies that are really going to be squeezed in this freefall are those with INVENTORY whose machines are aimed at DISCRETIONARY cash! Sorry for yelling. The business customer will not be as strongly affected, and in any event, the direct model will be better able to handle a sudden shift in the product mix caused by a sudden downturn.

If there is belt tightening in the consumer ranks, the first time purchaser is likely to put off that computer till things settle down. I wouldn't be surprised to see the market for entry level PC's be drastically curtailed, and CPQ's inventory problems get worse again.

All the talk today has been about the stock not the company. We have faith in the company, and I believe that the environment for the company just got better. I'd be very curious to hear your opinions. I'd also be interested in Dell employees' views on the developments. Maybe Venkie can sniff them out.
